MELAKA HISTORICAL CITY WITH A NATURE TOUCH !

MELAKA CROCODILE PARK

Ayer Keroh Crocodile Farm has more than 200 species of crocodile, which are reared in a natural environment. Some of the species include albinos and hunchbacks.
Every Saturday there are exciting performances by the trained keepers and their crocodiles. There is also a section of the farm set aside for honeybee rearing. Although the bees do not harm people, do be careful when passing through the area. The crocodile farm is the largest in the country and is a not-to-be missed destination!
Since its launch in 1987, the 3.2ha park has seen many visitors and tourists walk through its doors admiring these creatures. There are the Humpback, African Dwarf, Siamese, Tailless, and more. Other reptiles are also on show here.
Other attractions available at the farm also include a ghost house and fairground rides.

Taiping Lake Garden

Taiping Lake Garden is located near to Malaysia oldest town and being the most beautiful lake garden in Malaysia. The tranquility, beautiful lake view and misty mountain scenery are the attractiveness to this place. Taiping Lake is easily accessible from North-South Highway of Peninsula Malaysia.

The unforgettable sight here is the huge, ancient angsana trees with their drooping branches that seem to defy the law of gravity. The Taiping Lake Gardens was originally a mining site before it was established as a public garden in 1880.

Taman Tasik Food Court
My  trip to Taiping Lake Gardens was perhaps so I couldn't recall if there were any eateries near the lake. The facade overlooking the beautiful Taiping Lake Garden. We settled for Taman Tasik Food Court for dinner after making two loops. Within walking distance from the scenic stretch of rain trees, this eatery also has ample car park. Operating 24 hours as indicated on the signpost, it offers the choices of local hawker food including laksa, chicken rice, noodles, western, a fair bit of Thai flavors and bak kut teh. On a hot afternoon, this eatery is certainly not a spot one would stay long. Heat transmitted from zinc roof and dirty public toilets chased us away as soon as we filled up our hungry mouths. Despite the flip side, the bak kut teh was good and the bean sprout chicken rice was up to par.

A Day to Remember in Chilling

On 5th April 2013, we explored the beauty of Chilling Waterfalls and Dam for real. The journey took us about 2 hours. CHILLING WATERFALL=NATURE! Yes..surround with thick forest and refreshing waterfalls. The experience was mind blowing. We were very lucky that day. We were able to interview a very experienced lecture in the field of eco-tourism. He is Mr. Zulkifli. We were very lucky to conduct survey and gain some knowledge from Mr.Zulkifli and his team. Unfortunately on that day, due to unavoidable circumstances, we couldn't get to the water fall area. Besides that the overall trip was fun.

Perhentian Island Paradise !

The Perhentian Islands (Pulau Perhentian in Malay) lie approximately 10 nautical miles (19 km) off the northeastern coast of West Malaysia in the state of Terengganu, approximately 40 miles (64 km) south of the Thai border.
The two main islands are Perhentian Besar ("Big Perhentian") and Perhentian Kecil ("Small Perhentian"). The small, uninhabited islands of Susu Dara (Virgin Milk), Serenggeh and Rawa lie off Kecil. The Perhentians belong to Pulau Redang National Marine Park, which means that fishing, collecting coral and littering are strictly prohibited. Like Besut, people here generally speak Kelantanese Malay.
Crystal clear water of the sea
Both islands are fringed by white sand beach, and the reefs and crystalline water are host to a wide variety of coral, sea-turtles, jellyfish, small sharks and reef-fish. The islands' maximum elevation is approximately 100 m (328 ft) and they are uniformly covered in coastal tropical jungle, with few interior foot-trails and no roads.
Other than the owners and staff of the numerous cabin-style resorts that dot the islands (many of whom depart for the monsoon season), the islands' only permanent inhabitants live in a small fishing village on Kecil. With the exception of a single mainland-communications tower on each island, there are no structures taller than two storeys.

Boats used to get to the island
Nature tourism provides the economic base for the islands. Both the islands have palm-fringed white coral sand beaches (that can be tough on the feet) and turquoise blue sea. Popular tourist activities include scuba-diving,snorkeling, and swimming. On most beaches, the water is shallow with many rays, cuttlefish and parrotfish. For diving, there are dozens of divesites around both main islands, as well as several off-shore sites. Apart from these, activities like camping, canoeing, fishing, jungle trekking, and banana boat riding are also available. As for accommodation, most of it can be found on Perhentian Besar, the larger island. Hotels are usually aimed at budget travelling. The only access to the Islands is by boat from the fishing villages of Kuala Besut and Tok Bali. Local tourist operators run fishing boats and speed boats several times a day. This was one of our best fieldtrip ever. The environment in Perhentian Island was indeed mesmerizing and peaceful.

The Perhentian Islands were once home to a significant green and hawksbill sea turtle nesting population. Now the islands receive only 300 nestings per year, partly due to frequent oil spills from nearby oil production platforms and oil tankers owned by Petronas. The Department of Fisheries runs a turtle hatchery on the islands to help address the declining turtle populations.
